As you may be aware, this is being posted on Tuesday, November 8th, the 2016 General Election Day.

It is our obligation to be good stewards or managers of this wonderful country.  That means becoming educated on our options and casting our vote to select our future leaders.

“The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to
do nothing.” ~ Edmund Burke (Irish statesman,1744–1748)

Because the next president will appoint up to 4 Supreme Court Justices, the results of this election will determine the next 40 or more years of US policy and laws. This is NOT the election to sit out.

I’ll tell you what inspired this post today. It was Dr. Benjamin Carson’s quote about education. He appeared on Fox News Sunday on 11/06/16 and said:

“If you get a good education, it doesn’t matter who you are or where you came from. You can write your own ticket.” ~ Dr. Ben Carson

Dr. Carson did not have a great start in life but everything changed when he became an MD and accepted Jesus as his Savior. Dr. Carson made choices to get where he is today.

I too made choices that took me through several great professions in order to get where I am today. Although I am in charge of training here at PCCCA and have been an entrepreneur most of my life, there has been a lot of variety. To be very transparent, I did not have a great start in life. Both of my parents were (legal) immigrants who came to the US after WWII. We were very poor and I remember going to bed hungry often because every bit of food in the house was rationed. Despite that, my parents taught me that here in America I can do or be anything as long as I am willing to work for it. Needless to say, I grew up with a great work ethic.

I owned a marketing agency, a home health care business and worked as a Christian counselor. Previously I was a financial planner and the first woman licensed for mutual funds at John Hancock. I spent years publishing several independent periodicals including my city’s magazine. For a number of years, I worked as a journalist/photojournalist for a newspaper and had a TV show. All these experiences plus my education, gave me the skills to do what I do today. It happened because of the choices I made. I trusted the Lord’s leading and just did it. You can do the same.

The exciting part is that you just never know how God is going to use your gifts until you step out and try something. One career leads to another as long as you make it a priority to remain at the center of God’s will for your life.

“A lot of people simply don’t realize their potential because they’re just so risk adverse.
They just don’t want to take the risk.” ~ Dr. Ben Carson

Opportunities don’t last forever. God opens doors for a season and then the door closes. If you have been sensing that God has a plan for you and you keep putting it off, now is the time to accept God’s invitation to step into your destiny. He will be your safety net. He will provide your resources. You will never be alone, because He will be right there with you every step of the way. Will it always be easy? Absolutely not because you will grow and stretch in ways you can't even imagine.

“Every one of your talents gives you an opportunity to do good.”

You may be thinking that you have been working and waiting and you can’t see how it’s ever going to happen for you. God wants you to be patient because He is working some things out in you. He is also working behind the scenes to help you. This takes patience.

“Patience is not simply the ability to wait - it's how we behave while we're waiting.”
~ Joyce Meyer

As we wait on our dream to manifest, we become a better version of ourselves. Many leaders have discussed how their path was the best personal development experience they could have imagined. So take a personal inventory. Who were you then and who are you now? Can you see the growth?

It may not be comfortable to make the needed changes but your won't grow until you get outside of your comfort zone.

One of the most important ways we can grow is to increase our integrity. I am constantly reminded that just because something is legal, doesn’t necessarily make it moral.

“Integrity means that you are the same in public as
you are in private.” ~ Joyce Meyer

Now it's your turn... What great quotes inspire you? How have they made a difference in your life? Please tell me and the readers in the comments section near the bottom of this page.
